Lansing hosts several celebrations and events throughout each year.
Lansing's Bernard BBQ Battle
The first Friday in May marks the arrival of the Bar-B-Q contestants, with the main competition held on Saturday. The event will take place at Kenneth W. Bernard Park, 15650 Gilman Rd., Lansing, KS 66043 (located north of 4-H Road about 2.5 miles west of Main Street / K-7.)

Lansing’s Independence Day Fireworks Celebration
Another large community activity is Lansing’s Independence Day Fireworks Celebration. As the sun sets, the fireworks display begins as the community celebrates on the Friday before the 4th of July. The evening event at Kenneth W. Bernard Park, located in western Lansing (see Lansing DAZE), maintains a safe family atmosphere for any age to enjoy.
Lansing’s Fall Festival
The Lansing Fall Festival is held the second Saturday in October. The event takes place along Angel Falls Trail, with parking available near St. Francis de Sales Church at Ida St. and Desoto Rd. The Festival gives local organizations an opportunity to raise funds and share information about their group. Vendors are asked to keep a fall theme with their products. Local artists display their works and some provide demonstrations. Food and music all day - bring out the family to enjoy this autumn tradition in Lansing.
Outside of Lansing, residents and visitors may find an abundant amount of activities to fill the day. Only minutes away, visitors to the Lansing area may attend a NASCAR race at the Kansas Speedway. The Truman Sports complex is located less than 30 minutes from Lansing. Visitors can take in a Kansas City Royals’ baseball game or a Kansas City Chiefs’ football game.
