DAVID TRINKLE, JR. YOUTH FISHING DERBY MAY 4 IN LANSING

The Lansing Parks and Recreation Dept. will host the 23rd Annual David Trinkle, Jr. Fishing Derby on Sat., May 4, 2024 from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at Bernard Park, 15650 Gilman Rd. The event is named for former City Councilmember David Trinkle, Jr., a co-founder of the derby. Trinkle passed away in 2023.

Fishing will take place from 9:30 – 11 a.m., followed by lunch. Award presentations will take place after lunch. There is a $5 pre-registration fee per child for the event. Cost includes bait and a picnic lunch – attendees are advised to bring chairs and/or a blanket. Youth up to the age of 15 can participate in the fishing derby.  All participants must have a fishing pole (one fishing pole per registered participant) and MUST be accompanied by an adult.  Anyone attending but not fishing may purchase a lunch ticket for $3 on the day of the Derby.

Registration forms are available at the Parks and Recreation office, 108 S. 2nd St. and online by creating an account. Registration must be received by Thurs., May 2. Onsite registration on the day of the Derby will NOT be offered. In the event of inclement weather on May 4, call the information line at 727-5555 for cancellation notice.
