Attractions

Lansing hosts several celebrations and events throughout each year.

Outside of Lansing, residents and visitors may find an abundant amount of activities to fill the day. Only minutes away, visitors to the Lansing area may attend a NASCAR race at the Kansas Speedway. The Truman Sports complex is located less than 30 minutes from Lansing. Visitors can take in a Kansas City Royals’ baseball game or a Kansas City Chiefs’ football game.

Fishing from 9:30 - 11 a.m.
Kenneth W. Bernard Community Park

Fishing Derby activities consist of fishing and a picnic lunch. Pre-registration cost is $5 per child and is required. Cost includes bait  - be sure to bring chairs or a blanket! 

Children up to the age of 15 may participate in the Fishing Derby. All participants will need to bring their own fishing pole (one fishing pole per registered participant) and must be accompanied by an adult.

fireworks INDEPENDENCE DAYS CELEBRATION 2025 Lansing Independence Days 

This event will take place on Sat., June 28, 2025 at Lansing High School, 1412 147th St.

General admission is free; the event starts at 3 p.m. and will feature rides and inflatables for the kids, live entertainment including the One Night Stand band, a variety of food and beverages followed by a spectacular fireworks display beginning at approximately 9:30 p.m.
