LANSING COMMUNITY LIBRARY PROGRAM AND EVENTS UPDATE
The Friends of the Lansing Community Library will host their annual book sale from Fri., April 23, 2021 at 5 p.m. through 5 p.m. on Sun., April 25 at the Lansing Activity Center gym, 108 S. 2nd Street. Hand sanitizing stations will be available and recommended safety precautions will be in place.
The sale begins with a special preview for Friends of the Library from 5 - 8 p.m. Friends of the Library individual memberships can be purchased or renewed at the door for $5 or a family membership is available for $10. On Sat., April 24, doors open at 9 a.m. for shopping until 5 p.m. Sun., April 25 is $5 sack day from Noon - 5 p.m. Books can still be purchased individually on that day. Most books are priced in the fifty cents to one dollar range. Because last year’s book sale was canceled, there are an estimated 10,000 books available.
The Lansing Community Library also recently announced its partnership with Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library. The program, which is also supported by the Friends of the Lansing Community Library and the Lansing Kiwanis Club, provides a book each month for children up to the age of five who live within the city limits of Lansing. Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library is the preeminent early childhood book gifting program in the world. The flagship program of The Dollywood Foundation has mailed more than 100 million free books in Australia, Canada, The Republic of Ireland, United Kingdom and the United States.
The Imagination Library mails more than 1.4 million high-quality, age-appropriate books each month to registered children up to the age of five. For more information, visit imaginationlibrary.com.
