Council member Kerry Brungardt was elected to the City Council in April 2009. He was born and raised on a farm in Gorham, KS. After graduating from Benedictine College in 1983, he taught 6th grade at MacArthur Elementary School and coached football at Patton Junior High School for eight years.

Brungardt has called Lansing home since February 1988 and has been employed by Lansing Unified School District 469 since 1991. He served seven years as vice principal and eleven years in his current job as principal at Lansing Middle School.

Biography
Brungardt is a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Leavenworth. He is a cantor and has served with his wife as St. Joseph Parish Bazaar Co-Chair and Chair for three years. He was also a member of the Immaculate Conception / St. Joseph Parish Council from 2005-2007.

Brungardt and his wife, Michele, have two boys. Nick is a 2009 graduate of Lansing High School and is attending Benedictine College. Joe currently attends Lansing Middle School. Brungardt is an avid KU and Benedictine fan. He also enjoys working in his yard, doing home projects and spending time with immediate and extended family.
